Claire Ryan – Running Coach and Health & Fitness Instructor
“Not having been in the least athletic as a child, a major turning point for me was participating as a walker in the Flora Women’s Mini-marathon in my twenties…all of these ordinary but incredible women with forty plus years on me were running the 10k race and exuding such positivity and health that I joined my local running club the next day and have never looked back since; life is so much better in an unbelievable amount of ways when you exercise and get fresh air every day!
Since then I have participated in a variety of races and events, from marathons/ ultramarathons to adventure races and triathlons…I’ll try almost anything once. I find setting a goal and working towards it keeps me on the straight and narrow; 2014’s was the NYC marathon and 2015’s was the Wicklow Way ultramarathon…all 127km of it!
These events and the training for them enrich my life by pushing me to be the most determined, energetic and healthy I can be, as well as introducing me to a new range of friends, sceneries and locations…people and places I can draw inspiration from. This way of life eventually lead to qualify as a Health & Fitness Instructor, so now I spend my days training others and being lucky enough to play a part in their fitness plans and achievements, whatever they may be, and watching their quality of life go through the roof, as mine did.”
I have a Certificate in Exercise and Health Fitness (NFQ level 6), and graduated with First Class Honours from the National Council of Exercise and Fitness (NCEF), awarded by the University of Limerick.
