Maeve McKillop – Founder/Director and Running Coach
“Ever since I was a child I have loved sport and have been actively involved in it, ranging from athletics to netball to running. I studied a degree in Leisure & Tourism in the UK back in 2000 but my career at that time became side tracked and I ventured down the corporate route until returning to study in 2011. After qualifying as a NCEHF & REPS Ireland Personal Trainer I decided to set up my own Health & Fitness Company called Hissy Fit Ltd after a lot of encouragement from family and friends. I continued my studies within the industry and qualified as a Mat Pilates Instructor in 2012. I am also one of the few UK & Ireland Chi Running Instructors certifying in 2016 after training in London.
Alongside Hissy Fit I lecture on the Sports course in UCD which is a real honour and I get to work alongside those who intend on entering the Fitness Industry.
I am also the Head Running Coach for Spectrum Wellness and Laya Healthcare. Working with corporate clients has given me the opportunity to encourage a healthier lifestyle to employees via multiple mediums such as Lunch & Learn Presentations, Webinars, Talks, Running Clubs and Pilates Classes
On a personal note……
I remember clearly my first ever 10km run, it was so daunting, but after I completed it, the feeling was incredible! I understood quite quickly why so many people signed up and wanted to participate in races. Since then I have taken part in many events ranging from 5km, 10km, half & full marathons.
Training people to reach their own personal fitness goals is a true pleasure & honour for me. I love to share in the accomplishments of all my clients, ranging from complete beginners to those who want to excel further in their chosen areas of fitness. The Hissy Fit ethos is to help all become more confident and healthier individuals.
I feel very lucky to work in this industry and to share it with those who join the Hissy Fit Family.”
